Welcome to June,
Half way through 2023... and how are we all doing?
I'm not sure about you but it feels like this half of the year has gone by in a flash! It's good to take a moment to reflect over all you have challenged yourself with and grown as actors : )
I understand a lot of you will be right in the middle of exams for your academic schools, or even if you aren't, you may be busy bee's with all your outside activities and commitments.
Remember, it's one step at a time. Slow and steady wins the race as they say...and if you are feeling a little overwhelmed, maybe try and come back to finding the joy! I mean, in the arts, that is why we do what we do, don't we? Use this space as a place to turn up and be your fully, authentic wonderful selves. The good, the bad, the ugly...all emotions welcome and drive them into your performance. It can feel very freeing I promise!!!
To give you a little more space this month, our home task was less 'performance' and more looking and sharing pieces that you enjoy and would like to try?
This month's theme is 'Rehearsals' and that is exactly what we will be doing.
At your July classes in person, we are (for the first time) opening the doors! We would love to welcome parents/guardians/close friends to come and support you all in class and see what you've been up to. This is very informal, an opportunity to share your progress with everyone.
To remind you, these dates are Sunday 16th July in South Shields from 12.00-3.00pm and Sunday 25th July in Stratford Upon Avon from 12.00-3.00pm. More details nearer the time as we will more than likely open doors for everyone from 1.00pm.
So, your task and the classes this month will be working on your piece, whether it be solo or in a group so you can share this in your July open class.
I will be teaching all sessions in June as we work together as a group to rehearse and discuss your pieces. Friday's session will be our first dive into this, so please brings some options with you to try out.
IMPORTANT: Please take note of the dates and times this month as there are some changes to allow for rehearsal time together.
